A uniquely historic luxury hotel located between the city of Braga and the Gerês mountain range in the Pousada de Amares, Portugal.The new design of the building adapt the stones to the new function. Meticulous study has been done by souto de Moura in order to examine the ruins of the old monastery and to transform it into a Pousada. 
The south facade, with the garden and the pool, a long volume that houses the bedrooms of the hotel staff, and the east wing of this facade in which the restaurant is inserted are the newest elements of the restauration, that was recreated under the suggestions given by the shapes of the ruins themselves.
