This beautiful hotel rises in the heart of Soho, New York, the area of the city with the greatest number of art galleries, old bookstores, artists’ shops and charming cafes and restaurants. It is the southern edge of Manhattan, the constant setting of the films by the director that has been captured the soul of the city of skyscrapers, Woody Allen.
The Soho Grand Hotel is a welcome addition to an area with few hotel places. It is housed in a brickwork building among other old buildings that bear witness to the fact that this was a district of trade and business in the last century. The programme of the establishment covers sixteen floors that look on the other toward the south end of Houston street, with spectacular views from the rooms toward the two ends of Manhattan.
The interior design creates a warm and enveloping atmosphere of nostalgic echoes and industrially inspired formalism. The furniture is based on comfortable classic designs: large upholstered armchairs that are placed in the large lounge area of the access level and in the rooms, the padded headboards of the beds and the wooden seats in the hotel bar and in some suites.
The illumination occupies an important part of the design project in terms of the quality and intensity of the light and in the different types of light fittings that are dessiminated around the rooms recalling Art Deco streetlights and the traditional circular cloth screens that are repeated in the lounges and common areas.
